A great wrestler once said...

“Learn how to sell in the ring before you sell at the merch stand”.

The term ‘selling’ is common parlance in the world of wrestling. But what does it really mean to ‘sell’ a hold, a strike or a bump in the context of contemporary indie wrestling? Why do we do it? And what does it contribute to the audiences experience of the match?

Selling is way more than making a move look painful. It’s giving the audience an opportunity to live vicariously through your pain. But more importantly for the audience - watching the humanity of a wrestler overcoming adversity against all the odds, is akin to the high drama of Greek tragedy.

Join me for a 3 hour workshop in which you’ll:

- Identify the key characteristics of your physicality and the role that your body needs to play in different match contexts and different story lines

- Create a tool box of selling styles to match the roles you are most likely to play

- Learn how to create tension through selling and play with jeopardy to manipulate audience reactions to moves, spots and high points

- Understand the basic rules of selling and explore when and how to break those rules to enhance your creativity within story telling
